Zigzag is a vibrant group exhibition inspired by the revolutionary spirit of Alighiero Boetti and his iconic 1967 sculpture. The project brings together a curated selection of works by American and European artists from the late 1960s and early 1970s, celebrating their shared rejection of traditional aesthetics. Boetti’s sculpture, crafted from multi-colored fabric stretched over a geometric metal framework, reflects a reimagining of mundane materials into extraordinary forms.

Zigzag explores the intersection of structure and fluidity, much like Boetti’s original concept. The exhibition’s identity is built on a strong typographic foundation, using striking geometric elements that reflect movement, transformation, and a departure from convention. This experimental visual system embodies the unpredictable energy of the showcased works.

Our design approach echoed this transformative spirit. At the heart of the exhibition's identity is the innovative Miura fold brochure, a tactile and interactive representation of the unexpected. The visual identity, with bold typography and geometric patterns, mirrors the era’s radical experimentation. This project is a testament to the power of design to connect audiences with the rebellious creativity that defined a generation of artists. Through Zigzag, the legacy of artistic innovation continues to inspire new dialogues in the creative community.

Street-level promotional materials reinforce the exhibition’s dynamic nature. The posters, with their sharp, angular compositions and bold contrast, serve as an extension of the exhibition’s radical spirit. Placed in urban spaces, these materials create unexpected encounters with contemporary audiences, mirroring the disruption and innovation found in the artwork.
The exhibition catalogue and brochure utilize the Miura fold technique, reinforcing the theme of transformation. The fold itself becomes a metaphor for the multi-layered narratives within the exhibition, requiring the audience to physically interact with the printed materials to reveal content in an unconventional way. This format creates a deeper connection between design and concept.
